A WWI period scratch built model of the sailing ship King Albert, the three masted ship complete with rigging and flags, etc, on stand, with inscription 'Souvenir of War 22 February 1915 Louis Vermiere Belgian refugee', 31.5cm long, 20.5cm high, with Victorian glass dome and ebonised stand. Provenance: Josef Vermiere was a Belgian refugee who was sent to Hardwick Hall Derbyshire, he lived in Ostend and was a ships' pilot in Ostend Harbour, with hand written notes relating and stating that the model was given to Bernard Halliday who was the Clerk of Works at Hardwick Hall.
